Top 5 Best Times to Visit Melbourne

Are you looking to visit Melbourne some day and would like to know what's coming up in the year?
Do your friends overseas or interstate ask you when's the best time to visit Melbourne?
Well, if you answered yes to any of the above, here are some handy tips to keep in your pocket.

TOP 5 BEST TIMES TO VISIT MELBOURNE

1. Spring Racing Carnival (Oct - Nov)
Without much introduction, this might well be the event of the year! From Oct to Nov each year, ladies dress to the nines with fanciful hats and feathers in their hair, and gents suit up in their Sunday Best. You get the picture. Throw in copious amounts of wine & champagne into the equation and an exciting day of punting awaits you. I just discovered on the Victoria Racing site that there's a horse called Sweet Lorraine. My bets are on this horse.

2. Australian Open (Jan - Feb)
Every Aussie loves his sport. The Aussie Open is a much awaited annual sporting event for both the tennis enthusiasts and the novice alike. From Jan to Feb, you get a chance to soak up the sun at Melbourne Park, whilst enjoying world class tennis at its finest. Get the ground passes and you can enjoy a value for money day of tennis.

3. Formula 1 (March)
Fellas will be in for a rockin' good time, rooting for their favourite teams and peering at the sexy cars (or ahem race queens?). Ladies have no lack of eye candy either, what with the hot F1 drivers and racers. All in, a feast for the eyes and certainly bustling with activity, as you hear the F1 cars zooming by in record speed. A hot, hot, hot 4 days in March, this is not to be missed.
Occuring in mid March, these 2 festivals coincide so its a good time to make it for both! Enjoy the fashion runway shows and then move on to some food & wine tasting. Best of both worlds I say. There's a variety of events for both festivals so be sure to check their websites for updates. These 2 events would appeal to the fashion forward foodie (FFF). :)
Laughter is the best medicine so what better way to unwind than to hop into a stand up comedy act at the Melbourne Comedy Fest. Every April, some of the world's best comedians get together in Melbourne and put us in stiches. Melburnians, aren't we lucky to live in Melbourne? There's certainly no lack of activity for the socially restless.
