Top 5 Japanese Restaurants in Melbourne

Irrashaimase!" (welcome) to my top list of Japanese food in Melbourne!
TOP 5 JAPANESE RESTAURANTS IN MELBOURNE
1. Izakaya Chuji
Offering remarkable Japanese food at reasonable prices, this is one of me and my girlies' favourite Japanese restaurants. Situated on the corner of Lonsdale & Russell St, keep a sharp eye out for it as it's quite easy to miss this restaurant. (It's not far from Mai Tai). Make sure you order the tori karaage (fried chicken), geso karaage (fried calamari), salmon skin sushi roll, salmon sashimi, grilled eggplant & yukke (thinly sliced & seasoned beef sashimi). You can also try their Yaki Niku (Japanese BBQ) if you book 3 days in advance. Bookings are necessary as it gets really busy on Fridays & Saturdays.
2. Wabi Sabi
A star find in Collingwood, Wabi Sabi Salon offers modern Japanese in a cosy bamboo setting. Dining in the Japanese Garden, you can hear the sound of water trickling down the bamboo, whilst sipping your sake or Japanese tea. The service is excellent and the quality of food delectable. Choose from a vast variety of entrees, sushis, salads, hot pots, mains & desserts. My favourite dish is the crispy fried flounder with tangy Japanese Lime Ponzu dressing.

3. Misuzu's
Owner chef Misuzu Kawano whips up an impressive selection of authentic Japanese fare that's sure to whet your appetite. Surviving a fire in 2007, Misuzu's has a huge following of both locals in Albert Park and surrounds; who enjoy the wide variety of sakes (rice wines) and quality Japanese food such as the chicken gyoza, teriyaki duck and crispy tempura.
4. Nihonbashi Zen
Tasty tidbits on skewers (kushiyaki) is the signature dish of this place. Serving a variety of skewers from sashimi to seafood, to meat & vegetables, you will be facinated by choices, choices, choices. Using only high quality ingredients, freshness and excellence abound in the food here.
5. Iku Izakaya (Now called Kinya)
Sitting on cushions on wooden floor boards, you feel like you are dining in a traditional Japanese restaurant. Yet, there's a modern flair about the place, with its contemporary Japanese decor and picturesque Docklands Pier locale. The yakitori platter, sashimi & sushi platter are good to share; whilst the no fuss mains & bento boxes will satiate your hunger for simple Japanese cuisine.
